The Punjab government has launched a groundbreaking initiative to simplify the process of obtaining a driving license by deploying mobile licensing vans. This project aims to reduce congestion at overcrowded traffic centres while improving accessibility for citizens, especially women and residents of rural districts. With the introduction of mobile licensing vans, applicants can now apply for new licenses or renew existing ones with greater convenience and efficiency.

Mobile Licensing Vans Across Punjab

In the first phase, the government has rolled out 33 mobile licensing vans across different districts. Each van is equipped to handle new applications as well as renewals. To expand accessibility further, the fleet will be increased to 118 mobile licensing vans, ensuring coverage across the province and making licensing services available closer to people’s homes.

As part of this initiative, seven mobile licensing vans have been dedicated exclusively to female applicants. These vans, painted pink for easy identification, will also visit women’s colleges and universities.
