Punjab Launches Second Phase of Green Tractor Scheme and How to Apply

The Punjab government has officially launched the second phase of the Green Tractor Scheme, aiming to modernize agriculture and reduce costs for farmers. Starting on August 14, 2025, the scheme will provide 20,000 subsidized tractors across the province. Farmers with 7 to 50 acres of land were eligible to apply, ensuring fair access to small and medium growers. Through this initiative, the government seeks to improve productivity, support local tractor manufacturing, and promote sustainable farming practices.

This step reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening Punjab’s agriculture sector. Farmers owning 7 to 50 acres of land were eligible to apply, and selection is being carried out through a computerized balloting system. Over 734,000 farmers applied, and nearly 282,000 were declared eligible. A notable outcome is that 98% of farmers preferred locally manufactured tractors, strengthening Pakistan’s domestic industry.
