Fourth Earthquake in Three Days
Afghanistan has been hit by another earthquake — the fourth in just three days. On Thursday, a 4.8 magnitude struck the country at a depth of 135 km, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS).
This followed a 4.3 magnitude earthquake on Wednesday night, which was much shallower, with a depth of only 10 km. Shallow quakes are more dangerous because they shake the ground harder.
More Earthquakes Reported
Earlier, a 5.2 magnitude earthquake also hit the region near Jalalabad. That quake occurred at a depth of 10 km, adding to the fear and damage. Some sources like the Pakistan Meteorological Department recorded it as 5.4 magnitude.
So far, four have shaken Afghanistan recently, making it a serious disaster for the country.

Heavy Damage in Kunar and Nangarhar
The earthquakes have caused massive destruction in Kunar and Nangarhar provinces. Over 1,400 people have died, and more than 3,000 have been injured. Entire villages have been flattened, and many homes have turned to rubble.

India has sent 21 tonnes of relief materials to Kabul, including tents, hygiene kits, blankets, water purifiers, medicines, and more. Another 1,000 family tents and 15 tonnes of food are being delivered to Kunar province.
The United Kingdom has also offered £1 million ($1.35 million) in aid through the United Nations and Red Cross.
