Punjab’s ambitious plan to modernize its public transport system is gaining momentum with the upcoming launch of the Electric Bus Network in Attock district this October. The initiative, announced during a recent government meeting, is part of a province-wide strategy to provide affordable, eco-friendly, and safe travel options to residents across Punjab.
A Step Toward Sustainable Mobility
The provincial government has committed to deploying between 1,100 and 1,500 electric buses in multiple phases. The Electric Bus Network began earlier this year in larger urban centers such as Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, and Rawalpindi, and is now expanding into smaller districts that have long lacked reliable public transport.

Already, around 240 buses have reached Punjab from Shanghai, with more expected before the end of 2025. In total, the Electric Bus Network will cover more than 24 districts, making eco-friendly transport accessible across the province.
